Post-Doctoral Researcher in Communication Networks (SDN)

The Department of Informatics and Telematics at Harokopio University of Athens (Athens, Greece) invites applications for a full-time Post-Doctoral Researcher position in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) as part of a newly funded EU project. The selected candidate will contribute to the development and enhancement of SDN frameworks, with a focus on security, automation, and dynamic resource management in complex networking environments. This research will be conducted in collaboration with leading academic and industrial partners, advancing SDN technologies in IoT, 5G, and cloud computing. The position is funded for up to three years.

Research Areas

The role involves research in the following areas, among others:

• SDN framework development
• SDN Controller & Application Layer logic implementation
• Policy enforcement, dynamic traffic management, resource allocation, and fault recovery
• Containerization and orchestration technologies
• Integration with communication networks

Responsibilities

• Managing European research projects (project monitoring, participation in meetings, preparation of deliverables, etc.)
• Engaging in both R&D and academic activities, including the supervision of BSc/MSc students, teaching, and lab supervision
• Leading proposal writing and preparation for securing European/national research funding
• Publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed journals and conferences

Requirements

• PhD in Informatics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Previous experience in EU-funded projects
• Scientific publications in SDN, communication networks, or related areas
• Excellent command of English
